Isaquah 1st / Tiger Mountain Transfer 5 Week 2

hello!

this week has been such a good week! we had an apostle here and we got to meet him and hear from him which was awesome! we also saw many little tender mercies from the lord this week. this week was a really good finding week that was well needed.

this week we had a really neat miracle happen to us. it was friday night and we were with one of our recent converts and some people from our wards and we were feeding the hungry at the fire station here in town, when we were in the middle of serving the people we heard some one call out elders! we look up and we saw rob on of our recent converts! we were so excited because we had'nt seen rob in almost 2 months. i dont know if i have ever been so excited to see someone in my life! it was really neat because elder aiken and i had a really busy night that night and almost didnt go to feed the people but we felt like we needed to, because we followed to prompting to go god placed someone we had been hopping would come back in our path. we probably would have never seen him again if we wouldnt have gone to the firestation with the ward!

this week i learned alot about following the promptings of the spirit. elder oaks of the quorum of the 12 apostles and elder razband of the 70 came to our mission this week. it was amazing to be able to meet them and hear from true men of god. while they were hear it seemed they talked alot of having the courage and faith to act upon the promptings that you receive. sometimes they will be weird or you may be scared of what the outcome may be, but the promptings came from god and he will make all well. it was really neat to hear elder oaks talk about the importance of following those promptings and the miracles that can happen when we do follow them.

i hope you all have a great week and a great thanksgiving!

love you so much

Issaquah 1st / Tiger Mtn. Transfer 5 Week 1

hello!

this last week has been a fun week here! it has decided that it likes to hail now, so we have had two hail storms that were pretty crazy. i have never seen hail stick to the ground like snow, that makes walking up driveways and decks pretty interesting... there may have been an incedent or two with someone slipping down the stairs of a slippery deck coated in ice but no one was seriously injured so its all good!!

this week was transfers and elder aiken and i are staing in issaquah again! im excited and the wards were pretty happy that we didnt leave either!

this last sunday i had the opportunity to speak at a stake leadership training. it was a really neat experience because i have never been to one of them let alone had to speak there! things turned out great though. i was pretty proud of my self because i think it was the first talk that i did'nt talk really fast!!! elder aiken was asked to speak at the stake youth fireside that night and that was really good too. he spoke with a returned mission president and they talked to the youth about the best way to do missionary work is to have your own testimony of the gospel. i thought that was such a good point, if we dont have a testimony that the gospel is true how can we help others and tell them what we beleive when they ask us. it made me think of the change that i have had in my mission and that change happened when i had my own testimony and i had no doubt that this is true. when i knew that, missionary work changed and i think it does in everyones lives too. gaining our own testimony is probably the best thing we can do for ourselves and for others.

elder oaks comes this week and im so excited i can't wait for that!

life here is good though the sister missionaries are teaching someone in the library here right now. the person they are teaching lives in our area so i think we just got a new invesigator!! miracles happen!

love you all have a great week

Issaquah 1st / Tiger Mtn Transfer 4 Week 5

hola!

this week has been awesome!!! its been such an exciting and very humbling week. we were able to witness gods hand at work here in the issaquah 1st ward!!

it all started a few weeks ago when we set a goal with our ward council of 4 baptisms in October. we had only one baptism month to date, and it was now Tuesday on the last week and we didnt even have anyone on date! there was just about no hope for us to be able to reach our goal in the ward. then tuesday we stoped by a potential investigator we had found a few weeks back. she opened the door and we set an appointment for that night and we talked to her for a second, then she just started to cry and slammed the door... we didnt know what to do after that. so that night we came back and found out that she had started to cry because that morning she got on her knees and prayed to god and told him that she was done and needed a change. then we came. it was an amazing lesson and we put her ondate for november 19th! after we left we looked at each other and were like "what were we thinking, that is our three people we need this week!!!!" so we went to our appointment the next day and invited them to be baptized on sunday after church, and they said yes and were really excited for it!! we tough them 2 times a day for everyday until they were baptized, and their baptism was a very special one. we baptized all three of them and then lisa, a recent converts, daughter ( who is now a child of record) the ward loved it. it was a very neat experience to baptize and confirm 4 people right there!! the ward absolutely loves them and is excited for this great miracle to happen. it was so neat for us because i really learned the importance of relying upon the lord. we were in a situation where most people in the ward had given up and lost hope in our goal, but we kept praying and searching and god placed three perfectly prepared souls in our path that were just waiting to be baptized. god knows his children and he wants them to come back to him, because of that when people are ready for the gospel in their lives he will make it possible for them to receive the blessings of the restored gospel. we didnt really have much to do with these baptisms this weekend. they had been prepared by the hand of the lord and he placed them in our path to show them the way to find the changes and the happiness that they want in their lives. it was a really humbling experience to be able to see gods hand guiding our work so his will will be accomplished!

i love this work so much. i hope you all have a great week
love you elder berry

Issaquah 1st / Tiger Mountain Transfer 4 Week 2

hello everyone!

so the rains are officially back and fall has kicked in to gear, im kind of really excited but also sad. its started to cool off a bit and the leaves are begining to change it is awesome! but i dont think i will see the sun for a while so that is a little sad but the rain is kind of a nice change for a while, but i dont know how long it will be nice for...

something really sad happened this weekend. megan our investigator ( the one that had the really neat experience with the book of mormon) whos parents wont let her get baptized cant learn about the church anymore. her mom finally told her that she cant go to church and so we cant meet any more. its been really sad for everyone. its so sad to see someone so prepaired for the gospel not be able to rejoice in the blessings of the gospel! we are trying to figure something out there so its going to be an interesting week.

this week was alright we tracted alot and since the
mormon.org campaingn started things here are really exciting! we didnt have to much going on here in our area but there are so many great things going on in the zone and many of them were from mormon.org! im so excited for this media campaign here. there are busses and billboards in our zone with the advertizements on them and almost everyone we talk to has seen our comercials and there are many more people that are willing to talk to us!

there are great things going on here and im so excited the work is about to take off like it never has before.
i hope you all have a great week
love you

Issaquah 1st / Tiger Mtn Transfer 3 Week 5

hello everyone!

so the rain is back... i cant decide if i love it or hate it yet. but i think the excitement of cooler weather will rub off in a few days of not seing the sun! but things here are good. we had an insanely busy week, we had a ton of meetings with elder edwards coming here and then we went to the temple too. it was a crazy but great week.
we had a great baptism on saturday! we baptized lisa she is a great lady, we had a great little baptism service( and by little i mean like 7 people came). but it was great she absolutley loved it. we were so excited for her and she was so excited because she absolutely loves the gospel and she has felt the healing effects of the atonement in her life. she is great and she has an eight year old daughter that we are going to try to baptise this next weekend but she doesnt like to sit still very long so its going to be interesting!

elder edwards came to the mission this week! that was amazing!!! he is such a great speaker! we had a zone conference with him almost all day and then we had the opportunity to go back that night to a fireside for investigators and recent converts and it was amazing we had a few investigators with us and one of our recent converts and it was such a powerfull meeting! i really enjoyed listening to him speak he is truely an inspired man. probably the main thing that i took away from him speaking is the fact that we cant just do minimums. in life and in the gospel if we jsut do minimums we dont get anywhere but we need to sacrafice and do all we can to make progress in what ever we do. he also talked alot on the healing power of the atonement and once we understand that we will become the greatest missionaries because we will have a strong desire to share the gospel with everyone we see, and help bring them back through the waters of batpism.

i also had a great opportuninty to meet with him one on one after the meeting. he interviewed all of the zone leaders in the mission! it was amazing cause how often do you get to be interviewed by a general authority!!!! it was sweet, but it was kind of sad i though of all the good questions to ask him after our interview was over... but it was still amazing.

oh also saturday night elder aiken and i were tracting out on tiger mountain where it is very rural and it was late and pitch black and raining. and we knocked on this one door and someone came to the door. and with out opening the door asked who was there, so we said "its the missionaries" then it went silent... a few seconds later we heard a round drop into a gun and then they cocked the shotgun! then the door opened and there was a guy standing there (who didnt look to happy to see us) holding a shot gun behind the door. he was pretty short with us and told us he wasnt interested and to leave and needless to say we left alright. we ran to the car and i mean RAN. and drove far away from there. we thought we were going to die! but it was a fun night tracting out in tiger mountain!

well i hope everyone has a great week
love you

Issaquah 1st/Tiger Mtn Transfer 3 Week 4

hello everyone!

things have been going so good here! its truely been an amazing week we have seen so many great things and many mighty miracles this week!! the whole mission is on fire right now and especially our zone we truely had a blessing of a week for us and our zone. as a zone we found 22 new investigators and 10 new on dates! that is the highest this zone has ever seen! we have been blessed so much. the zone has been working so hard im so happy i can be here to see what is happening.

so after this last week the whole misson is running! they challanged all of us to run from person to person and from door to door. and believe it or not i actually love it. it has changed our mission because its given all of us hope and an increased desire to share the gospel with urgency. it makes us not wander around hoping for a miracle, to running talking to everyone and prepaired people are placed in our path every day. it is changing our mission so fast and the missioin is seeing alot of blessings and miracles.

i personally have had an amazing week with many really neat experiences.. but one of them was in a lesson we were teaching. we are teaching this girl who is 16 and she is on date for baptism. she refered herself on
mormon.org and told us to bring a book of mormon but we couldnt take it to her house because her parents wouldnt like it. one day we finally got in and gave it to her then we didnt have contact with her for like 2 months. then we finally found a way back in we were talking to her about the book of mormon and if she had read any of it. she told us she was in second nephi! then we asked her if whe had pryaed about it yet. then she started to cry and she told us that she had prayed and god had told her that it was true!!!!!!! she then went on and tried to express how she wanted to join the church but she didnt know how. so we quickly explained batism and she is so excited! ahe already talked to her parents and has permission to be baptized!! we teach her a few times a week and the change i have seen the gosple make in her life will have forever strengthen my testimony. it made me realized that what we have and what i do as a missionary is real and it changes lives.

also we had stake conference this wekend which was amazing, but the thing i loved about it was i got to see all the people i loved in one place and it was a pretty rare opportunity. all of the recent converts in both of my wards were there, all of the members were there, we had a few investigators that were there, and all of my missionaries were there. i just loved seeing it, it was really neat for me to be able to look around a room and see all of the recent converts and be able to see the affect the gospel has made in each of their lives. it made me realize how important missions are because i was blessed enought to be able to see so many peoples lives that my labors here have benefited it was such a neat experience and gave me such a dirve to work harder to be able to help so many more people!

i love my mission so much its awesome! i love serving here and i wouldnt trade it for the world!

i love you and hope you have a great week

Issaquah / Tiger Mtn Transfer 3 Week 3

hello everyone!

so this last week was awesome!! it was such a great week! it was probably one of the best weeks of my mission. i learned so much and it was just a great week.

we have like the greatest investigators in the world now and we had leadership training and zone leader council this week it was a pretty busy week.

so we had leadership training wednesday and thursday this week. and wednesday we had the director of media and the director of prosyliting over the entire church there!!! it was a neat opportunity. they gave great trainings on mormon.org and it ws so good to hear from them. they made me feel like a terrible missionary becasue of how well they know preach my gospel and it made me realize how much i didnt know! so needless to say i have been having really good studies since then.

we had zone leader council on friday and that was pretty crazy. that is when all the zone leaders the assistants and president larkin meet and we discuss how we are going to change the mission. it was an interesting experience but it was great!

our on dates are doing great! we are teaching this girl named skylar and she already has her own quad! its amazing but sorry i dont have much time this week love you gotta go

have a great week

Issaquah 1st / Tiger Mtn Transfer 3 Week 2

hola!!

so things here have been amazing here this last week! we recieved so many blessings and witnessed so many miracles in our area and all over the zone too! it turely has been an amazing week

the work in our area has been amazing we put three people on date for baptism this last week! we put skylar on date for sept 24th. she is from an inactive partmember family. she is 15 and absolutely ready for the gospel. skylar and her grandma came to church this sunday and it was amazing! they loved it. im so excited for them. we also have carla and angel on date for the 24th too. carla is angels mom and angel is 8 years old. they are a great little family but we have to get carla married to her boyfriend she lives with first so there may be some complications there. but i know all will be well.

this last weekend ray k. was baptized and it was amazing! he truely loved it and so did the ward! after almost three years his journey of searching is finally over and he has taken the steps toward returning to his heavely father! i had the wonderfull opportunity to confirm him and i loved that opportunity to bestow upon him one of the greatest gifts from our heavenly father. also this sunday andrew h. one of our recent converts recieved the priesthood! i was so happy to be able to take part in his progression in the gospel and in the preisthood! it truely was an amazing week i was able to withness so many mighty changes in peoples lives.

i ablsolutely love my mission and the miracles i have been able to witness!

being a zone leader has also added on the the crazieness of the week. i have never spent so much time on the phone before! we are constantly calling everyone in the zone and then we have to get numbers and then report those to the assistants its a pretty busy job! but i love it i love being able to work so closely with so many missionaries in the zone!

we have a big transfer ahead of us though. we have about the lowest baptizing zone in the mission but we have to turn it in to the highest batizing zone in the mission. we are well on our way to doing this the lord has poured out his blessings on this zone this last few weeks. but it is our job to keep the missionaries motivated and know that they can continue to see miracles and baptize. im so ecxited i get to serve here in this calling at this time in the mission!

i hope everyone has a great week and fun back at school
love you all

Issaquah 1st / Tiger Mtn Transfer 3 Week 1

greetings from the great state of washington!!

so this last week was weird but good! a lot of unexpected things happened but it was amazing and im so excited for all of the changes.

so im staying in issaquah for another transfer! i think im going to be here for a while now but i love it! i also got a new comp sort of. im back with elder aiken my comp from a transfer ago! its crazy but we are actually serving as zone leaders together now!! thats kind of the reason why this week was so crazy. last night i got a call from president larkin and i was caled as a zone leader!

im so excited for it i love my zone and im excited to serve in this position! its crazy though cause i have already spent 3 months with elder aiken and now we are back together again. im exicted for it, we are going to have an awesome time here!

this last week e gardner and i tought more lessons than i ever had before! we tought 22 lessons this week it was a good week! we had a really neat experince too . sunday night it was 8 45 and we needed one more lesson to get there. so we parked on the side of the road and said a quick prayer and said "heavenly father, give us one more lesson, amen" then we ran out of the car. we chased the frist guy we saw down and asked if we could share a message with him. he accepted!! we tought him a lesson and he even said the closing prayer in romanian! it was awesome! it truely was a miracle ans a blessing from our heavenly father. it was really neat to see the instant answer to prayer. that probably made our week.

oh also elder L Tom Perry of the quorm of the 12 came to our mission this last friday! we all got to meet with him and he spoke to the mission! it was such a great opportunity to hear from an apostle of the lord. he spoke alot on the priesthood and how we need more priesthood to support the church because of its growth. it was so neat to hear from him. but thats about all that has been happening here.

i hope everything goes great there
love you

Issaquah 1st / Tiger Mtn Trans 2 Week 4

hola!

well this week has been just a typical week in seattle, we stayed super busy and its been amazing! we tought 21 lesons this week which is the mosti have ever tought in a week! its been great! we have seen many miracles its been so good!

president larkin made a promise to all of the compainionships that they could baptise someone in july and this last week was the last week in july. it was a great week there was miracles all over the mission and so many people were baptized! we searched and searched all week for someone to baptise but it just didnt quite happen. we got so close though! one of our investigators , andrew, wanted to move his baptism date up so we talked about moving it up to this sunday! ( this was on tuesday) he seemed to like the idea so he was going to pray about it and get back to us. then his work schedule was insane so we coulnt get back on with him but it just didnt quite work out for this week but he is getting baptized this saturday so its all good!

it was a crazy week trying to get that figured out and then find someone else to baptise if that wasnt going to work out. we couldnt find someone to baptise to fufill pres larkins promise but we had a bunch of other great miracles happen like a less active lady brought he friend to chruch ( who happened to be an old potential investigator they we would try to teach) it was awesome so we are going to go and teach her this week.

also we went to have a lesson with our recent convert natalie and her mom was there! so we were talking about the plan of salvation with them and the mom was really enjoying it so now we have an appointment set up this week and we are going to go teach the restoration! it was awesome.

but thats about all thats been going on here. its been good here its been sunny almost all week! its only rained like once so its been awesome!
i hope you guys have a great week
love you

Issaquah 1st / Tiger Mtn Trnasfer 2 Week 3

hey everyone!

this last week has been fantastic!

this week was amazing we made so much progress with our on dates! we had such a powerfull church tour with jordan he just loved it! we are now trying to hand him off to the singles ward which is sad but i know it will be whats best for him in his progression in the gospel!

we aslo had two really good lessons with jeff and christine who are on date and they are awesome! they want to get baptized becasue they know that it is something that will bless their family and their lives, they are so prepiared for the gospel! the only down side is we are going to have to move their date back becasue christine works on sundays so we need to figure that out. but it will be good and everything will work out.

our other on date andrew is doing so good! his member wife is such a big help too! they came to the ward party saturday and then church on sunday and he abolustley loved it! someone in the ward even gave him a job! it was an amazing experience for him! he is even already using the " when im baptized" statements which is amazing!!!

we had a mission wide fast this week. it was really great and we saw so many miracles during the fast it was amazing! we found megan. she refered herself on
mormon.org but said we shouldnt stop by cause of her parents, so we had been trying to time the stop by perfectly because it was a one time thing if her parents answered the door, but we were out tracting wednesday before our fast was over and i felt a propting to stop by. so i figured we had better go so we ran to the car and drove there and knocked on her door. and it just so happeded that her mom was in california and her dad was at work!! we finally go to talk to her and we had such a powerfull lesson with her at the door it was amazing! i know that when lead by the spirit all things are possible :)

hope you have a good week

Issaquah 1st / Tiger Mtn Transfer 2 week 2

ni how!

that is hello in chinease but i probably totally messed up the spelling! my chinease is coming along pretty good now! never thought i would learn chinease on an english mission but we are teaching a buch of people from china so its awesome!

this last week has been awesome! i love serving with elder gardner. he is a real good missionary. but this last week we have seen so many miracles, but we now have five people on date for baptism!!!! this week we put jeff and christine ( i think i told you about them last week), jordan, andrew, and ray on date! jordan is a kid we tracted into a few weeks ago but finally tought him this week and he loved it. we are going to take him on a church tour today which will be great! andrew is a husband in a partmember family we found, we tracted into them and finally got them on a church tour! it was amazing the spirit was so strong and his wife was really pushing batism too! which made our jobs easier:) but im so excited for them they are awesome! and ray is an eternal investigator, his three year mark is in november but he finaly decided to get baptized on august 27th!! it truely was a miricle that he finally decided to pick a date! the ward is so excited for it. its going to be amazing.

so something pretty neat happened last night too. elder gardner and i were walking into an appartment complex to go visit some potential investigators and when some one hollered out there window and asked if we were the missionaires! so we said yes and then he told us to come around to his door. it turned out to be a couple we had tought a few months back. he told us that he was talking his daughter to the hospital becaue she hurt her leg really bad. and he asked us if we could pray with her before they went. so we asked if we could give her a blessing and they said yes. so we gave this little girl a blessing in the back o f their car in the middle of the perking lot. it was a really cool experince. it made me realize the importance of always being worth because you never know when you need to excercise the priesthood!

i hope you all have a great week
love you

Isaquah 1st / Tiger Mtn Trnasfer 2 Week 1

hey everyone!

this last week has been amazing! we have seen so many miracles! its been a bit stressfull with transfers but awesome!

im now serving with elder gardner he has only been out 6 weeks! so its going to be awesome! i get to follow up train him and im so excited he is still so excited and just ready to work so its going to be great!

i also got a call from the ap's this morning and im now a district leader too! so im so excited for the chance to serve in this position.

this last week was great though. we put jordan, jeff and christine on date for august 16th last night! it was a great night!

jordan is in his 20s and is a student who has been searching for this for a long time. we had such a good lesson with him and he seems excited to learn and hear more of the gospel. i know he will go so far.

we also put jeff and christine ondate for the same day! they are a young married couple and are just awesome! they ove knowing the fact that their families can be together forever!

we are also teaching a lady from china too! her daughter converted a few years ago and so her mom is here visiting for 6 months and wants to lear about the church! but since all she speaks is chinease we have the wans another family in the ward who speaks chinease come and translate for us. it is pretty crazy but fun. its alot different teaching her because she has no clue about god or anything. it makes me great full for the opportunity i was givin to grow up in a family and country that can freely worship.

im excited for this up coming week its going to be awesome!

love you

Issaquah 1st / Tiger Mountain Week 6

hey everyone!

this last week has been so good! last night the 4th was awesome and crazy. but besides that things here have been just the same old, like getting chased by a dog, meeting jesus christ( or someone who thought he was the second coming of jesus christ) and just the same old. its been good!

the fouth was way fun here. our ward had a giant bbq at a members house so we went and go to spend time with the ward which was awesome! then we went tracting after that and people werent to happy to see us on the holiday! we got yelled at alot and some guy threatened to let his dogs out on us. they were big dogs. but it was a fun night though!

this last week we started teaching a spanish family. who are awesome. we were on our way to an appointment with our recent convert natalie and the family walked by us in the appartment complex so we talked to them in what little english they had. our fellowship for natalie also spoke spanish from his mission so right after natalies lesson we ran over there with him and tought them! it was so neat. teaching them is crazy beasue everything has to be translated! but its sad they have a 4 year old who has a heart condidion and her heart is on the wrong side of her chest so she isnt suppsed to live much longer. it is so sad. things like this make me so greatfull for the plan of salvation and the knowledge we have from it.

transfers are also next week so im excited to see whats going to happen.

love you all

Isaquah / Tiger Mtn Week 5

hey everyone!

this last week has been fantstic! its been insane but good. probably one of the most stressfull weeks of my life and after this week i dont expect to come home with any hair! but it was great!

well we found two new investigators this week who are awesome we havent found any new in a while so its great to actually find people! we also had the baptism of laly, lorenzo, and jj saturday! it was such a good service, they really are a special family. e. aiken baptized them all and i confirmed them all on sunday which was such a neat excerience. the ward was pretty excited because its not very often you confirm that many people in one sacrament. getting their baptism service ready though was insane e aiken and i had a giant pannic attack! we had the building reserved for 1pm and we got there to start filling the faunt and there was a giant ward that had the whole building and were having a huge temple day and bbq! they had classes in everyroom and we were scared that we werent going to be able to have the service! but we started filling the faunt anyway and just started praying. but by 12 30 they were out of the room so it worked out great! it was scary but good. it was such a great service there the spirit was so strong and we had a great turn out from the ward. our stake president and president larkin even came it was a good day.

we had a great talk with our stake president on saturday too. last month our ward did a 40 day fast for missionary work. he came and talked to us about that. he told us some things that i didnt realize that i thought were awesome and really show the power of fasting. but pres johnson had a goal for every ward to baptise 6 people this year. and with in those 40 days of fasting our ward accomplished our goal of 6 baptism! it really shows the effects of a sincere fast. it has been a good last month because of it we have seen so much sucess! i just thought that was really neat.

well i hope everything is going great there and you have a great week!

love you

Issaquah 1st / Tiger Mtn Week 4

hey everyone!!!

just thought you might like to know that its supposed to be in the 70's all week and might actually hit 80 degrees!! i think summer is finally starting to come!!!
this week has been good, kind of slow but good. church was only 5 hours yesterday instead of 7 so that is always great too! but this saturday will be laly, lorenzo, and jjs baptism! we are so excited for them but we are also still really nervous. laly was out of town this weekend to her families house and that is always really scarry becasue that is some of the biggest opposition. but she is still good so we are excited. but her boys are at their dads house all week so we are still worried about them but we think everything will be alright. all we can do is pray!

we had a pretty good fathers day here. we went to a family in the tiger mountain ward and it was amazing they had a ton of family over and the best food ever! it was fun though.

this next week should be really good though. we just have alot of finding to do and there is alot of potential for this next week from our efforts this week so it will be great!

i hope you all have a great week!

love you

Issaquah 1st / Tiger Mtn Week 3

hey everyone!

this last week has been awesome! we had alot going on. covering two wards is as crazy as ever. we spent from 9 am to 4 pm in meetings and church on sunday! it gets pretty crazy because we have to split up to go to all the meetings that we need to go to . this sunday elder aiken was in one sacrament meeting with investigators while i was in tiger mtn ward council and then i went to another sacrament for a bit with our other investigator while elder aiken was taking pelple to class. it was crazy!

we are still teaching laly lorenzo and jj. this last week lorenzo went to the hospital with extreme adominal pain. they found a lump on his testicle and they didnt know what it was. i was really scared because everyone thought it was cancer so we went over that night and offered to give him a blessing. they accepted our offer so we gave him a blessing. the spirit was so strong in that room, the next day we went over to teach the them and lorenzo was running around and didnt feel anything at all. and the doctor also said it wasnt anything either but they are just going to watch it to be safe. it was so great to see the power of the priesthood work to heal this little boy. i know that we were placed in his life at this time to help them through this because now they have a super solid testimony of the preisthood and of the gospel! they are now ondate for june 25th ( we had to move it back because they are going to their dads this week for fathers day). but everything is great with them.

also this last friday steve and stevie downs were baptzed down in the benson hill ward!! me and elder bonnett started teaching them and now they got baptised this last week. i was so excited for them and their decision. steve the father used to be a methodist preacher so he has come along way and stevie his son is a good basketball player and now he wants to go play for byu and marry a mormon girl!! they are awesome.

this last week i invested in some hair clippers and made the decision to cut my own hair... then i gathered up all the guts i could and cut my hair ( which was really scary) but it actually turned our great!! ( see before and after pictures) also this last week for service we helped one of our investigators debone a pork but, which is basicly one sixth of a pig! it was so much fun cause we had to cit the leg off the pig then take all the bones out of the shoulder and everything. it hought e aiken was going to puke at one point. it was awesome though.

well i think thats about it for this last week. i hope all is well there and you guys have fun where ever you may be at this week.

hey everyone!

this week has probably been one of the craziest weeks of my life! but its been great. we had zone conference this week too which was awesome. i was so nice to have and get that spiritual boost to finish off the transfer.

well tuesday was crazy i was on exchanges with the zone leader and we were going to a lesson with our on date rob ( who was baptized this last friday!!) but on our way there i got pooped on by a bird!! it was pretty gross but pretty funny. but after i cleaned my self off we went to robs house and he wasnt home! he was gone so i was kind of freaking out because he was supposed to get baptised in like four days and if he wasnt there it was kinda scarry cause no one knew where he was. and the week before a baptism is a very vital time cause satan usually works his hardest there. but he was baptised on friday and it was awesome! his baptism wasnt anounced really so we were scrambling to get people there and we didnt find speakers until like the night before and one canceled so i ended up giving a talk at the baptism. it was a great servie, we even sang acappella because we couldnt find a pianist! it was good tough.

oh and i got to see my friend from school though! sam staples lived on my floor at byu and his older brother is my eq president so he brought him to the baptism. it was so cool to see him again.

we also found three new investigators this week and we are so excited they are so ready for the gospel. they have been prepared and searching. it is a mom and her two sons and they will definately be getting baptised soon!

also on sunday i had like the grossest thing ever happen to me( and yes it was way worse than the bird poop) we got picked up for our dinner appointment and this guy called us while he was on his way to pick us up and asked if we were allergic to dogs cause his was in his car. we said no thinking it was no big deal but we didnt realize that his dog basicly lived in the car! he pulled up in this little old honda hatchback thing with this giant fullgrown lab with its head out the back window. e aiken like ran to the car and jumped in the front seat so i got stuck in the backseat with "buckshot". the inside of that car was pure dog hair, it was floating through the air and the dog was laying all over me and they he would stick his head out the window and wag his tail which would then hit me in the face! i couldnt get out of the car fast enough. my suit is now coverend in dog hair and reaks of nasty dirty dog. so its currently in the dry cleaners, hopefully that will work!
but it was a good week though just crazy and im glad i dont smell like a dog any more either!

i hope you all have a great week. give hank the lovins for me

oh and transfers are next week so i wont email till tuesday and i sent a pic of us and rob and after robs baptism we went over to the temple grounds with rob and natalie and josh and brandon so thats the other pic. we baptised josh 2 weeks ago and brandon is the little kid

Issaquah 1st Week 4

hey everyone!

this last week has been great! just really stressfull.

we baptised natalie and josh this last week and it was awesome! natalie is a single mom and josh is her 10 year old son. they are great. we had their baptism at 8 friday night because they were busy all weekend but thankfully we still had a great turn out. everyone loved it. it was such a cool thing to see them baptised together. josh is an amazing little kid he really has a special spirit around him, im so excited to see him in the futute and see the great things he will do! i definately think that he is going to be a great leader in the church someday. im so ecited to see him grow up.

also sunday morning we got a call from pres larkin and elder aikens dad had a heart attack that morning. but thankfully it was only a mild one so he is fine but he should be out of the hospital today. so sunday was a really stressfull day because of that and then we had two confirmations. but its all good now everything should be fine with him which is good. ( i forgot to tell you guys about this in my call yesterday sorry)

oh our investigator , rob that we have been working with who is ondate for the next weekend, we might move his baptis up to this saturday. we really think he is ready and holding it off isnt the best thing. so we might be baptising someone this weekend too! it will be great.

now we just have to find some more people to teach cause now we have like one investigator left so we have to do some serious finding, which is going to be fun! well i hope everyone has a great week there.

ISSAQUAH 1ST WEEK 3

hey everyone!

well this last week was one of the longest weeks of my life! so much has happened i dont even know where to begin! first natalie and josh didnt get baptized they are on date for this friday now, and elder kicuchi of the 70 came to the mission!

we had a crazy week with natalie and josh though, wed she texted us and told us she couldnt get baptized, so we went over that night and we had such a powerfull lesson with her and spirit was so strong in that room. after that lesson she was so excited to get baptized and we moved her date up to friday instead of saturday!

then on thursday morning we got another text that said she still couldnt get baptised and she didnt want us over any more and she would call us when she was ready. we had to go over again and talk to her. but satan was working so hard on them i have neven seen him work so hard on some one before, but now she is on date for this friday and we are so excited for her. im excited for josh he is like 10 and he is such a cool kid. he has such a special spirit around him. im so excited for him.

elder kicuchi came to the mission and that was really cool. he said some really cool things to the mission and made some awesome promises about how we will be able to baptise 200 people a month by the end of the year if we are obedient. but it was really focused on what we can do better as a mission and how we can improve. but it was awesome it was so cool to be around someone like that!

oh tell grandma i had a good talk with sister larkin this morning and we both can wait until they get out here!
well i hope everyone has a great week

Issaquah Week Two

hey everyone!

this last week was definately alot different that what im used to! well to start off though i am now serving in the issaquah 1st ward, they had a mix up at transfers and put us in the wrong ward. but we got a call from the ap's the next morning and they told us about the mix up and switched us back to the wright ward. it was pretty sad though because tigert mountain was a car area, so i had a car for half of a day! but now im back on bike again... and three quarters of my ward lives on the side of a mountain!

my new area is half on a mountain and half in the valey so the riding is pretty tough! this is the first time this area had been on a bike. but it only takes us about 20 to 25 minutes to get to the top of the mountain to go tract up there so its not horrible. this area is so different though, i never thought i would miss the ghetto but i do! my new area is pretty wealthy and missionary work is totally different here! but its going to be great though!

we do have natalie and josh on date for this up coming weekend though! they are great natalie is the mom and josh is her 9 year old son. i did just walk into these to baptism but im just so glad i got to teach them too. they are a great family and the chruch has changed them so much. im really excited for their baptism this week end.

it was a beautiful weekend here too! it was sunny for 3 whole days!!!! i havent seen the sun like that in months! it was beautiful i have never been so excited to be sunburned in my life!! it was a great week end but now the rain is back and everything is back to normal, but it looks like spring is on its way finally.

oh thank you so much for the easter box! it was great i loved it and the new tie was awesome! i hope you guys had a good week in oregon and had a great easter! give the hankey bunny a good rub down for me!

Tigert Mountain Week One

hey everyone!

today was trasnfers andi got transfered to the tigert mountain ward in issaquah! im serving with elder aiken, he is a great missionary im really excited that i get to serve here. its going to be alot different here though its like out in the mountains a bit so everything is far apart and everyone is hicks supposedly! its going to be alot different than my last ghetto fabulous area benson hill.

im going to miss benson hill though. it is pretty cool though my last comp e bonnett went zone leader and they made benson hill a zone leader area now so its pretty cool.

but this last saturday we had lileys baptism! it was great, she loved it and i did too. she was so happy. i love the happieness that the gospel brings to peoples lives. i had the opportunity to confirm her on sunday it was great but kinda scary! i loved the opportunity though, it was a great experience. the baptism was definately a great way to leave the area. im going to miss benson hill though we had 3 baptisms in the last 4 weeks!! it was a pretty crazy area. it was sad to leave cause that ward felt like home and i didnt really want to leave cause i love it. it is the best ward i have ever been in but its going to be nice to switch things up a bit. and being in a car area is going to be great!!

elder aiken is from sandy utah and he has only been out for like six months i think.
im excited for this next transfer though there is going to be alot of good stuff going on.
well i hope everyone has a good week!

Benson Hill transfer Two Week Six

hey everyone!

well we have had a pretty good week here, its finally starting to warm up a bit which is great! we dont have to wear suit coats all the time either so its really nice! i love it but it stil rains alot so that hasnt changed.

this last saturday we baptized brittnay! it was great i had the opportunity to baptise her too which was even better! but it was a good service. i really enjoyed it they are a great family though, it was funny we were at their house the other day and they had a vitamix and they started making us drinks in it! it reminded me of home and all the drinks we used to make. it was fun though

oh and our investigator liley that we have been working with for a while now is finally getting baptized this up coming saturday! me and e bonnett are really excited and she is too. she loved the church but now we just have to try to teach her son now too!

oh this last week we got a crazy phone call! we got a call from the dectectives office from the renton police station! it was pretty crazy they found my old bike that was stolen! the person who took it pawned it and so it came up in their system at the pawn shop so they went and picked it up. so now i have my old bike back! but now the only problem is that i have 2 bikes, but now im just going to try to sell the one. but it was a crazy day when that happened.

next week is tranfers and im pretty sure im getting transfered so p day will be next tuesday and next week if there is any letters or anything just write them to the mission office address so ill still get them.

well everything is good here we stay busy which is great! but i hope everything is going good there

Benson Hill Transfer Two Week Four

hey everyone!

i cant really believe another week has gone by already its been going by pretty fast but i guess thats a good thing! well afterlast week this week has seemed pretty slow but it was still a good week. one thing that we started this week that was pretty cool was we started a book of mormon study group for all of our female investigators and for the relief socitey. we are teaching a bunch of women so e bonnett thought it would be cool to do a study group for all of them so they could learn to read from the book of mormon and be fellowshipped from ladies in the ward at the same time. it actually worked out great and it was pretty cool. it is something that we are going to do every week from now on it should be good.

conference was great. i loved relaxing all day it was so nice but weird. i definately needed a break from riding that bike all day but it was weid watching conference as a missioary but it was great i loved it it was a great conference. i really liked bednars talk sunday afternon session it was good, but priesthood was different with out dad, papa and blake. and i definately missed the dessert after the session, but i guess tracting is just as good.

oh we should be baptizing one of our investigators this weekend. we should be batising brittnay im really excited for her. im ecxited because we tracted into her and taught her and then she asked me to baptise her! so im pretty excited i get to be here for everyhing. so if everything goes right it should be another good weekend but she is the kind of person that wouldnt show up to her own baptism so im winda worried about actuall getting her there! it will be good though. i think thats about all thats going on though. well i hope everyone has a great week there. give hank a good scratch for me!

Benson Hill Transfer Two Week 3 (Best Week Ever!!!)

hey everyone!

well this last week has definately been one of the greatest weeks of my life! we have been blessed so much and had the opportunity to see many miracles. we have seen the lords hand in all things this week.

well i think my letter last week was about how brittnay was supposed to get baptized this last weekend but she fell off date, but me and elder bonnett still prayed for a way that we could keep president larkins promise of baptising at least one person in march and the lord provided a way! he might have had to fly someone up from califonia but we still provoded us a way to baptise some one in the month of march. this last saturday we were able to baptise melissa, it was such a cool experience especially since it was a miracle baptism and i was the one that was able to baptise her!

it all started a few weeks ago when a lady in our ward came up to us on a sunday and told us her sister was coming in town for 2 weeks on vacation, so we had 2 weeks to convince her to get baptised, but a week was all it took! we met with melissa last saturday for the first time and tought her the first lesson, then monday night we invited her to be baptised and we werent really sure about if she wanted to or not. then on wednesday during our district meeting that we had we got a text from her sister alma that said " its a great day elders! my sister wants to get baptised and she wants it done before april." when we saw this me and e bonnett flipped so we texted back and put her ondate over a text! we set up her baptism for the coming satuday the 26th. so we had like 3 days to teach her everything! it was a crazy process but we got it all done. so we held her baptisimal service this last saturday, exactly one week from when we first met her!

president larkin promised all the missionaries that the lord would put someone in their path to baptise in the month of march and after brittnay fell of date we kept praying and knew the lord would provide a way. he waited till the last week of the month but he still provided a way to baptise someone this month! her baptism was amazing though we had a lot of the ward show up, which was great becaue it was such short notice and no one knew her but it was a great service.

i had the privelige to baptise her! it ws one of the greatest things i have done in my life! i loved seeing the pure joy that the gospel brought into her life. i will never forget how happy she looked after she was baptised, it was really a blessing to be able to take part in such an experience and have the lord bless us with such a great miracle.

last night me and e bonnett got a call from president larkin. he congratulated us on our baptism and then he talked to us for a bit and at the end of our conversation he promissed us 3 batisms in april! so we have alot of work to do but i know that we will be able to acomplish this promise. then this morning on my email i also got a letter from pres larking it has been such a great week. and this was hardly a part of what has happened this week! i wish i could tell you more but i could go on for along time, its been great and the lord has truely been blessing us with miracles and i love beig part of them!

i hope everything is going good ther and i hope everyone gets better soon. im sad my puppy is finally growing up. well have a great week

Benson Hill Transfer Two Week Three

hey everyone!

well its been another busy week and a long one too. we went to the temple today, thats why im emailing so late but it was way cool pres larkin was in my sesion so it was cool for him to be there with us.

so much has been happening here i cant even remember really what has been going on it kinda just all blends together but i had probably one of the most stressfull weekends of my life this last weekend. our investigator brittnay was on date for the 26th and she just had to come to church one more time before. then saturday she was supposed to come and watch another baptism in the ward but she just like totally dissapeared all weekend. we couldnt find her, no one would answer her phone or door so she missed church and isnt getting baptised this saturday anymore but we found her monday she said her and her family were all really sick. but it was along weekend worring about them and trying to find them. she is still way legit though she is really excited to get baptised and im way excited for her.

the rest of the week was pretty crazy though like we have so many people we are teaching it gets pretty crazy sometimes, we teach alot. which im starting to like more an more as i get better at it.

the weather has been really nice lately it hasnt been raining to much! and its actually been pretty sunny too! im still working on the bike situation though like today we just dont have time to get to the bike shop so im trying to work it out still. but things are great and the lord is still pouring out his blessings! we have been blessed so much our area is amazing and i love it.
well i hope that everything is still going well there.

Benson Hill Transfer Two Week Two

hey everyone!

this last week has been another crazy one, it seems like they are always crazy haha but its been good. we have been seeing so many miracles going on in my area im just loving it.

oh i got a replacement bike, the mission had some bikes laying around so they let me and elder bonnett borrow some but i need to find a new bike and fast cause my bike is literally falling apart piece by piece. like i was riding down the road the other day and my fender just broke and fell off in the middle of the sidewalk, its just things like this. that bike is a disaster just waiting to happen!

this weekend was crazy it started out pretty rough. friday night we had a priest out with us cause we were having lessons with some single moms that we are teaching, the first lesson went great with him and then we went to our next appointment. this lady we were going to was very prommising and she was a former investigator and had already been to church a few times so we definately though she could be our baptism for march. when we got to the lesson we sat down with her and she tried to give us our book of mormon back. she told us she didnt want anything to do with the book because she was scared that she would be tempting god and the bible was all she needed. it was a pretty rough lesson. the kid that was with us deffinately got to see both sides of missionary work it, it was so sad though. but then saturday was alot better we put someone on date for april 9th. it was pretty sweet. then sunday was even better, the lord was truely blessing us because we had a lady show up to the sacrament meeting after us but she was looking for our ward. she lived in our ward bounderies but she showed up at the wrong time so her bishop took her to ours and they set up an appointment with her for us to stop by this week! we were so excited, i tracted into this lady over a month ago while we were on exchanges and i gave this lady a map to our church and then i just totally forgot about her and never went back but then she showed up to church by her self! it truely was a miracle! everyone is so excited like our bishopric member that set up the lesson purposfully set it up so he could be there too and asked us if he could come. it totally made up for my bike being stolen!
it was a pretty crazy week and i have been loving it.

well i hope everything is good there and give hank good scratch for me!

Benson Hill Transfer Two Week One

hey everyone!

well we have had another pretty busy week. there has been so much that has happened. but to start off today is transfers and im staying in renton in the benson hill ward. im excited that i have another transfer here.

well i feel like a piece of me is missing. yesterday mine and e bonnetts bikes were stolen! it was a sad day. we were tracting an appartment complex and we had our bikes locked up on a the road out front. we were only gone for like an hour but i guess thats all it takes. it was crazy though we were tracting and i had to go to the bathroom really bad so we were just going to ride over to a bathroom really quick so we walked outside of the apartment complex where we had our bikes locked up on a pole. we were really confused for a sec because we went to where our bikes were and they werent there anymore, but there was a bike lock and our helments laying on the ground. we didnt really know what to say. some one cut through my lock and stole our bikes. it was pretty sad i loved that bike and elder bonnetts bike wasnt even his it was another missionaries bike so we still have to call him and tell him his bike was stolen. so now we are walking until we figure something out.

well besides that we had two investigators fall off date. they still will get baptised but just not this month it is just a matter of time. but our other on date brittnay is still doing great she came to church for the first time sunday and she loved it! it was awesome im excited for her she is ondate for the 26th.

well i guess thats about it for now. i hope everything is going well for everyone. give hankers a scratch for me!

love you

Benson Hill Transfer One Week Six

hey everyone!

well i never thought i would be happy for it to rain again, but its finally raining instead of snowing! it has snowed all this last week and it has been cold i dont like the snow haha missionary work gets alot harder when its cold like that. other than the snow it has been a great week we had zone conference yesterday thats why im emailing on tuesday again and next week is transfers so ill be emailing tuesday then too. but zone conference was supposed to be last thursday but they canceled it because the snow got to bad and they parked all the cars in the mission, so its a good thing i dont have a car anyway! so it got moved to yesterday.

Zone conference was awesome though pres larkin is amazing. the whole conference was basicly on hollieness. our mission has has a past of disobedience and pres larkin is turning it around and he is trying to make it the most holy mission on earth. it was a great meeting and alot of changes were made to the mission this last week too. we now have to wear suits all the time because before we could just wear slacks and a jacket but its now only suits and they are stressing that we sanctify our selves and become holy people to do the lords work. it was way cool because during one of pres larkins talks he started talking of grandpa and about the love and compasion that he had and an experience that pres larkin had with grandpa in a meeting after grandma was diagnosed with leukiema. it was way cool to hear stories of grandpa. it was an awesome meeting though.

seattle is crazy! like i feel like im in a foreign mission most of the time haha. most people we talk to are from different countries and half of them dont speak english. this week we started teaching a lady named roda. she is from sudan and she has the tribal scars all over her face they are pretty legit. she cant speak english very well and her language is crazy it is only a spoken african language so she cant read or write. we are also teaching a family from congo they are amazing and the dad earnest has already read through enos in two weeks of reading the book of mormon they love it so we are trying to work with them and get them baptised but they dont believe that god only has one church. so its a work in progress.

this week we got threatened to get beat up! it was pretty crazy this little white dude came out of his appartment yelling at us and cussing at us saying that we knocked on his door and woke his grandma up! it was pretty funny im starting to not like white people because they are all mean and everyone else is usually pretty nice to us. but it was funny because that guys neighbor was out side too and he watched us get yelled at so he snuck us into his house after the other guy went inside and we had a good conversation with him. it was pretty funny but we were both kinda scared for a sec.

well things are good here we are going to have an awesome week. i hope everything is great there. love you all and give hank a good rub for me!

love
elder berry

oh and tell the georges thanks for the hot chocolate and stuff
also on packages and letter that get sent to the mission home can you tell people to start putting garrett on it too because there is another elder berry in the mission so they mix it up sometimes
thanks

Benson Hill Transfer One Week Five

hey everyone!

well its snowing in seattle today!! its pretty cold and i dont like it, i dont think my hands have ever hurt as bad as they did today from the cold they were purplish after i got off my bike today it was pretty crazy hah but the weather here is pretty crazy like today it was sunny and then it was raining and then it hailed and now it is snowing. i just wish it would make up its mind! cause im already on my second pair of clothes today because me and e bonnett were totally soaked through.

we have had a great week though we now have 3 people on date for baptism. we put 2 people on date this last week! and we are going to put someone else on date tonight too! this last week we put Isaiah ****** on date on tuesday. hes a goofy kid he is 14 and his dad is inactive. his dad is from ghana and came to the states to run track for byu so they have a pretty cool story but his dad is going to ghana for a month so we have to wait to march 26th to baptise him so his dad can be here for it. we also put brittnay ***** on date for march 19th on saturday. she is awesome, we tracted in to her and the first time we talked to her she told us that the mormon religion was the only religion that made sense to her! she also loves how we can actully answer her questions she has. he husband is actually a member too but he hasnt been to church since he was like 14 so he can also answer some questions which is great for us because we think he still has a testimony which will help her so much. our other on date is liley ******** she has been on date for a while but we has to bump her date back to march 12th but shes doing pretty good though.

it has been a great week we have been blessed so much, and this morning something way cool happened, we were riding our bikes down the road and normally when we stop to talk to people they try to avoid us but there was this lady today that totally like flagged us down and started to talk to us. she told us how she wanted a new beginng and everything like that we actually said a quick prayer with her on the side of the road and she started to cry. she is awesome so we are going over to her house tonight and she wanted us to come pray with her so we are going to go tonight and dedicate her home and then teach the restoration and then invite her to get baptised and we think its going to go over great! im just kinda scared because ill be on exchanges so ill be in my area tonight with a new comp so its going to be different.

but its been awesome here i hope everything is going well there. and let blake know that he better pick his training up because at this rate when i get home im going to be able to ride him into the ground! haha im getting to be a beast on the bike now these hills are finally paying off. well i hope everything is going good there.
love you guys and give hank a good rub for me

Benson Hill Transfer One Week Four

hey everyone!

happy valentines day! well it has been another crazy week, truely we have been blessed this week there has been so many great things that have happened we have been doing some serious work too. we got 12 new investigators this week which has been awesome! we found so many people and it is amazing because we found all but one of these from tracting! so things have been going great the lord has been putting so many people in our path. so these next few weeks we are going to be doing a lot of teaching. we have a few golden investigators which is awesome we totally would have them on date already but our fellowship totally messed it up 2 times in a row. they should be quiet and let us teach, we have been kinda fustrated with that but it has been good, we just arent taking fellowship anymore untill after they are on date. other than that things have been awesome. we reput liley back on date for march 12th so she is working towards that and there is really good progress. we also put another guy on date saturday night. we met mark on the side of the road and he is a mess. but saturday night we rode around for like 2 hours in the rain and nobody would let us in, so we were on our way home and we stoped by marks house and we talked with him for a while and we shared a lesson with him and invited him to be baptized. we were pretty excited and its going to take alot of work but it will help him out so much. im excited to be able to see the gospel help in his life.

so i guess dad was here this week and it was a really nice week. it didnt rain much until saturday it made up for the week of not raining. but the rains not to bad you just get used to it after a while. so it has been raining since then.

this week also has been interesting because e bonnett has been in training meetings all week so i have been in a threesome with another greenie that came out with me and a elder that has only been out a trasfer more than me. so none of us knew what was going on so it was pretty crazy being with them all week and going around not realy knowing what we were supposed to do.

we also had a way cool experience this week. when i was out in my threesome we tracted onto a russian lady and i think she recognized our tags so we tried talking to us but we couldnt communicate with her at all. so we ended up just leaving and she looked kinda sad when we left. so i told elder bonnett about it and so later that night we took a russian and an ukrainian b of m over to her appartment. when she answered the door we help the two books of mormon up and let her pick the language she wanted. she took the ukrainina one and we tried to show her what it was, she ran into her house and brought out her bible and tried talking to us about it. we still couldnt communicate with her at all so we had to leave. so now we have been looking for people who speak ukrainian, i realy want to know what she has to say but i dont know if ill ever be able to find out in this life and i might just have to wait till the next to find out what that lady wanted to say and if the book of mormon will change anything.

it has been a great week though im also getting alot better on the bike which is nice!

well i love you all and give hank a good scratch for me

Benson Hill Transfer One Week Three

hey everyone!

things are giong great here. it has ben a busy last week but it has been good. we have stil been doing alot of tracting which is alright its not as bad now cause i actually kinda know what to say to people. but i never though i would like getting doors slamed in my face but its actualy kinda funny and makes my day. well anyway we have found a few new investigators this week which is great im excited to be able to work with them. we have been kinda bummed because our investigator liley martinez that has been on date is probably going to fall off date. we have been working with her alot but shes just not ready to make all the changes that has to make yet. but we have been trying to work with her son enrique who is 14 and we think hes very promising so we have been tring to work with him because if he gets baptized his mom will. she wants to change for her kids so she eventually will, she wil get baptized but just not on the date we set with here i just still hope i will be here for it.
well i have a new found fear of curbs this week, especiallly the wet painted ones. they can get pretty slick. saturday we were riding back in to our apartment complex and i tried to hop onto a wet painted curb but my front tire just slipped off and i went down. thankfully i got my tuck and roll down pretty good! E. bonnet was behind me and thought it all was pretty funny. it was pretty scary cause i got to see the ground come at my face pretty fast. but its all good now my knee and shoulder are a little sore but thats about it. it wasnt a good biking day at all though, my chain fell off, i crashed and broke my new light all in like 5 minutes. it was rough. but its all good now. i did find out that seattle is the second hilliest citiy in the nation! what a great place to be on a bike! i love it though im really glad i can be on a bike cause you know you worked hard when you are exausted at the end of the day. its crazy though i never thought that i could be totally exausted and completely soaked from riding in the rain and freezing and be happier than i have ever been. it truely is a testiment that im in the right place.
well im glad to hear that everything is going well there. lex you have to let me know how track is. and im excited to see hanks suprise and get the package! well give hank a good scratch for me.
love you all

Benson Hill Transfer One Week Two

hey everyone!

it has been a pretty crazy week this last week. its so different actually being out in the field over sitting in a class room. but i love it here, im in the benson hill ward and it is awesome i love my ward so much. it is definately the best ward i have ever been in they way they function is amazing like they do most of our work for us we just have to go and visit people. our ward mission leader bro lim is awesome we spend alot of time with him, most of the time i wonder if he even has a job because of how much he helps us and talks to us. like today he took us bike shoping and out to lunch a baja fresh which was awesome! the ward is so great though i love it. there is about to be alot of good stuff going on here the work is about to take off and im so excited for that.
we have done alot of tracting this week. we are supposed to tract for 4 hours each day. there is alot of appartments in our area so that makes it nice and easy, but its pretty fun cause we see some pretty crazy people. this last week we tracted into an eskimo, a pirate, and my personal favorie a witch( a real live practicing witch not a wicken) there are some crazy people but i love it! im so excited tht i finally got a bike to so that way we dont have to walk anymore and we will be able to be alot more effective. my bike is pretty sweet though i love it.
tomorrow is new missionary training so its going to be a long day but it should be good and help alot. cause i feel like everything they tought me in the mtc doesnt count! everything is so much different out here but im learnig pretty quick. well im actually about out of time so ill have to write more next week but things are great here and i hope that everything i going good there
love you

January 26, 2011

hey everyone!

so today has been my frist full day in the mission field. im serving in renton washington. so far i love it here i still cant get over how green it is here and i love it. it makes me happy and especially it has been sunny today and should be suny for a few more days.
my trainer is elder bonnett he is from provo and he has been out for a year and a half. the renton area that we are in is a very succesful area ao im really excited to be serving here, there is already someone on date here from the last elders so we got a free baptism basicly! its pretty cool she is set for feb 20 so im really excited i cant wait. today in zone meeting we set a goal for 2 baptism in feburary so we have some work to do but with the area it shouldnt be to bad. there is also a family of 5 that comes to church alot but they wont get baptised so we are going to go meet with them tonight and try to work with them and see what we can get done its going to be awesome to try to work with them.
oh and im in a biking area but it will be nice though its a beautiful area. also i cant drive those 2 tickets kinda messed me up but its a good thing im in a biking area then!. but to get my driving priviliges back i just have to go to the mission office and watch a move so it wont be bad at all.

we have an awesome ward mission leader bro lim he basicly does our job for us. he helps us out alot and knows like everything about all the people wich is good cause we got whitewashed into the area so me and elder bonnet are both lost. all the time. but bro lim is awesome he set up rides for us so we have rides every tuesday- thursday nights from 7-9 so im excited for that we wont have to be on bikes then.

its realy nive to be out of the mtc but weird caue actually talking to real people is alot different than talking to fake investigators that are already mormon but it will get easier as it goes.

oh and my address is 11100 petrovitsky # r 106 Renton, WA 98055.

i got to meet with pres larkin last night which was way cool. im so glad i can work with him there is going to be alot of great stuff going on in the mission, there has been alot of changes and everything too which i think wil help alot but its going to be great to work with him.

well i hope everyone is good there and give hank good scratch for me ( and no i will not stop putting this because he needs a good scratch everyonce in a while!!!)

love you guys

January 19, 2011

hola everyone,
im glad to hear hank is back to his old self and is just like his mom i think thats way funny. guess the apple didnt fall to far from the tree. well my day just got ruined i just found out its snowing outside!!! it has been beautiful here and all the snow was almost gone and you could see color again but now its snowing and its gonna be cold again.
but other than that things have been going great.
i'm loving having p day its pretty nice to not be in a suit haha but its not so bad wearing a suit anymore i'm used to it so it doesnt really matter at all. class has been going great i have been learning so much but i cant wait to get out and go to seattle we have less than a week left and im excited to go . in class we have been teaching progressing investigators which is actors that are investigators and we get to teach them. its awesome i love it its so much fun teaching them for real and i learn so much from it. this one guy we are teaching is awesome me and elder lindamen were teaching him monday and our discussion went awesome, the spirit was so strong and we invited him to be baptized and he accepted we though that was awesome we were so excited after it was a great day. we are also teaching a guy named bill but he his totally different. he shows no emotion and is very hard to work with so we have to try really hard and dig alot its so hard elder lindeman always comes out of the lessons all depressed cause he thinks we didnt do well but in reality we made alot of progress with him. im excited to teach him again cause it is such a challange and it is fun to learn and grow from having such a hard person to work with. everything else is going great though class isnt too bad it goes by so fast now and the days just fly by so its pretty nice

we got our travel plans the other day and i am the travel leader so i am responsible for 11 elders to get to seattle. this should be an adventure, its going to be a crazy day though. oh and we get to call at the air port so i'll be calling sometime tuseday morning it will probably be pretty early though cause our flight leaves at 8 25 in the morning.
today should be an adventure though me and elder lindeman get to leave and go to the urologist becaue his blood tests came back so its going to be weird to be on the outside world haha but it will be nice.
well i hope tht everything is going well there give hank a scratch for me. and happy birthday blake.
love you

Jan 12, 2011 First Letter from MTC

hey everyone,
well today is my first p-day so its been so nice. we get alot of personal time so its going to be awesome not having to sit in a little class room all day. but things are going great here. class has been going pretty good i have been learning so much and i have been teaching alot too so its pertty cool to actually be able to teach and know what im supposed to be doing before i get into the field. i love teaching the investigators here even though they are members they pretend to be investigators and its way cool cause you still grow to love them and can feel the spirit in the lessons even though everyone is just acting.
last night was probably one of the best nights i have ever had by far. we are getting a new mission presedemcy this week so elder holland came to the fireside and spoke last night. it was amazing he talked alot about missionary work and it was one of the best takls i have ever heard. he talked alot on how that we are in a new era of missionary work with preach my gospel and because of that we have to be the best missionaries the world has ever seen. because we actualy have to know the gospel and teach how the people need instead of telling a memorized lesson. he also talked about how we are the hope of israel and it is our job to bring people unto christ. when he was talking about how we are the hope of isreal i had never realized the importance of my call. i had never realized how important my job is and how important it is for me to study and be the missionary that the invesitgators deserve. then after the meeting we had a district meeting where we all bore our testimonies and talked about the talk and that was also realy good. it was a great night and it was definately something we all needed to hear.
oh and let grandma and grandpa know that we have a great group of guys going to seattle! there is 8 of us in my district that are going to seattle and i love them they are some great guys and will definatley work hard our in the field. i have been learnig alot from them especialy from my comp elder lindamen hes an awesome kid. and thank the haugs for me for the candy it was awesome haha me and my comp are loving it.
well i hope everything is going well there and give hank a good scratch for me!
love you
